Marriage and Couples Counseling
|
I ask couples to commit to an initial series of 6 sessions. As much as is
possible, these should be in consecutive or near-consecutive weeks.
The six consecutive week approach requires a commitment on the part of the couple to
timely sessions. Couple therapy is often hard work and a good outcome is unlikely unless
the couple makes it a priority and attends consistently. Usually more than six sessions will
eventually be necessary for a couple to successfully address their concerns. But, by
committing to the initial six sessions a couple will hopefully be able to build a therapeutic
foundation on which to continue to work on their relationship.
Time Slots for Couples Counseling:
I set aside a number of optimal time slots for couples counseling each week (late afternoon,
early morning or noon time). This is for the purpose of accommodating couples who find it
challenging to find a time to attend therapy together.
Cost:
The cost is the regular rate of $150 per session. Credit cards are accepted. Also, in order
to enable me to reserve optimal time slots for couples, I ask them to pay for and reserve 3
sessions in advance for the first six sessions.
I do not accept insurance for this kind of counseling because insurance does not pay for
counseling when billed as marriage/couples counseling. Insurance will only cover couples
counseling if the counselor reports that one of the individuals suffers from a mental disorder
normally covered by insurance.
